Events have been held throughout the Broxtowe constituency to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The celebrations began on Saturday with the Hemlock Happening culminating last night with beacons at Bramcote, Greasley, Awsworth,Stapleford and Kimberley. Broxtowe MP helped open the Hemlock Happening and last night joined hundreds at the beacon lighting in Greasley.

Dozens of residents gathered at Awsworth Parish Hall on Friday to listen to Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, Parish Councillors and seasoned campaigners discuss UK Coal’s proposal for an open cast mine on a 325 acre site between Cossall and Trowell.
