The Health and Social Care Bill gives doctors, nurses and other front line health professionals the power to commission services and treatments for patients. Anna Soubry spoke in today's debate on phone hacking and the News of the World. In condemning the practise Anna called on the Government to pause before agreeing to any purchase of majority shares by Rupert Murdoch's News International.

Anna Soubry said: "the revelations that Milly Dowlers phone and the phones of other murder victims had been hacked, evidence stolen and in some cases destroyed was despicable".

Anna Soubry supports debate in Parliament on phone hacking

Anna Soubry said " it is outrageous that the News of the World hacked into Milly Dowlers phone, published some of her texts, deleted others and led her family to believe she might be alive when in fact she had been murdered."

Anna Soubry accepts petition supporting Greasley's MUGA

Grealsey's MUGA - a sporting area is under threat after a small number of people living next to it, complained to Broxtowe Borough Council about the noise. The area is mainly used by youngsters and has proved popular, especially with parents keen to keep their children playing sport and out of trouble. But there have been complaints about the noise from football games; as a result Broxtowe Borough Council has slapped a noise abatement order on the MUGA which is run by Grealsey Parish Council.

Anna Soubry welcomes Government plans on Sentencing

Anna has given support to the Governments Bill to reform Legal Aid and Sentencing. The proposed legislation will both enable more community based sentences for criminals who commit less serious offences and tough new measures to make prison a place of work and rehabilitation. Anna criticised the last Governments legacy of over crowded prisons where drugs are widely available, record rates of re offending, a lack of courses for kong term prisoners with too many confined to their cells for 23 hours a day.

Anna Soubry surgery with Councillors is a first!

Borough Councillors representing Toton and Chilwell Meadows joined Anna's "drop in" surgery at Tesco in Toton on Saturday morning. Marilyn Hegyi and Craig Cox who both live in Toton, helped with demands for a bus shelter and the many congratulations for the work the team has done to make sure Toton is now recognised in the official Royal Mail address and post code for the area.

Anna Soubry welcomes ban on wild animals in circuses

Last months circus off Bardills roundabout provoked controversy and Anna called on people not to visit it. " I spoke out publicly against the use of wild animals in circuses and called on the Government to introduce stricter regulation " said Anna "it is going to be difficult to draft legislation to ban this horrid abuse of wild animals but I am pleased the Government has now announced tough new regulations which I hope will have the same effect as a ban.
