Packed public meeting says "no" to development on Toton's green belt

It was standing room only when almost two hundred people attended the meeting on Saturday September 25th. Anna Soubry explained that Broxtowe Borough Council had chosen green belt land off Stapleford lane as a "preferred site" for 800 houses.

One after one, residents voiced their opposition to the plans which would add further congestion to roads already choked with traffic, put extra pressure on oversubscribed schools as well as destroying a much loved part of our green belt.

Anna Soubry condemns plans to build on Greasley's green belt

Plans published by Broxtowe Borough Council reveal the full extent of their proposals to allow development on green belt in the north of Broxtowe.

"Sites including the Moor Green show ground have been identified as suitable for development" said Anna Soubry "I do not believe people throughout Broxtowe want to see whjat little green belt land we have being surrendered to new housing."

Broxtowe Borough Council has, in effect, agreed to a target of upto 6,000 new houses in the Borough. Brown field sites can accomodate 2,000 homes leaving 4,000 to be built on green belt.

Disappointment at Bramwell sale

Nottinghamshire County Council have announced that six of their residential homes have found a buyer.

The deal said to net the Council £2.5 million is with Runwood Homes one of the country's most reputable providers of residential homes for the elderly who specialise in dementia.

Anna Soubry welcomes Gotham to Broxtowe

The Boundary Commision has proposed adding Gotham to the exisiting constituency of Broxtowe as part of the plans to re-organise constituencies throughout Britain.

"The Coalition has rightly decided to reduce the number of seats by 50 to ensure constituencies have roughly the same number of people" said Anna "It will also reduce the cost of politics by £12 million and that's a good thing too".

Toton public meeting on threat to green belt

Anna Soubry and local Councillors Marilyn Hegyi, Craig Cox and Tony Ford are holding a public meeting in Toton as part of the campaign to protect the areas green belt.

Fields off Stapleford Lane and opposite Bardills have been identified by Broxtowe Borough Council as suitable for development even though are in the green belt. The plans would see hundreds of houses built on the fields.

Anna Soubry has asked Councillors to protect the green belt and abandon Broxtowe's housing target.

In her letter Anna Soubry said " You may know my own view and I believe it is shared by many of the people I represent, that Broxtowe needs to maintain and continue to protect its green belt land. I think the decision which in effect gives the green light to development on Field Farm and on the fields between Toton and Stapleford, before consulting with the people in those communities and at the same time as setting a target figure, was most unfortunate. The Localism Bill gives Councils like Broxtowe the power to make their own decisions.

Anna Soubry delivers SOFA petition

Anna Soubry was presented with the petition by Rev. Brian Keyworth the former Baptist Minister in the village last week. Rev. Keyworth, is tee total but a firm supporter of The Foresters as it is a popular community meeting place in the village. Anna Soubry said after today's presentation "Milan Radulovic appreciates how important the pub is to people in Newthorpe and he has said he will in turn present the petition at next weeks full Council meeting. I am very pleased Milan has asked his officers to explore whether The Foresters should be named as a 'Heritage asset".

Anna Soubry receives response on Toton Trees

Anna Soubry has received a response from Lord Henley, Parliamentary Undersecretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, regarding the Toton Trees Restocking Notice, following her letter of 14th July.
