Blue Plaque Unveiling, St Mary's Church, Attenborough

A blue plaque will be unveiled at St Mary's church in Attenborough to commemorate the explosion at the shell filling factory in Chilwell on July 1st 1913 which killed almost 140 people and injuring 250 others. The plaque will be dedicated at 11.15. A second plaque will be unveiled at Orchard Cottage which is the nearest existing property to tthe factory site.

A variety of events are taking place across Greasley throughout the day to commemorate the occasion; ranging from a Jubilee breakfast walk to welly-wanging, a Parish tour aboard a London red bus, competitions, charity concerts and the lighting of a Jubilee Beacon. Chilwell Jubilee Celebrations

St Barnabas Church, Barn Croft, will be host to a summer fayre and garden party with an array of activities. There will be cream teas, a bouncy castle, fancy dress and crown competitions, a raffle, books and refreshments.

The celebrations will be opened by the Mayor of Broxtowe, Cllr Margaret Handley.

Lower Road, Beeston, Street Party to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubillee

Residents from Fletcher Road, Albert Road and Queens Road will join their friends and neighbours on Lower Road for a street party to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

There will be children's fancy dress, an egg & spoon race and quizzes!

Nuthall Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

A marching band parade starts at Horsendale Primary School at 9.45 and winds its way throughthe area and onwards to Temple Centre.

There will be a multi faith service of celebration to mark the Diamond Jubillee at 11.30.
