Greasley Parish Jubilee Celebrations

A variety of events are taking place across Greasley throughout the day to commemorate the occasion; ranging from a Jubilee breakfast walk to welly-wanging, a Parish tour aboard a London red bus, competitions, charity concerts and the lighting of a Jubilee Beacon. Breakfast Jubilee Walk

Starts at Beauvale Priory at 7:30am and meanders through some of Greasley's famed country. Returns to the Gatehouse tea Room where a breakfast menu will be available. Booking advisable but not essential. Contact walk leader Jeff Catherines: 01773 710 759.

 

Greasley Sports and Community Centre Sporting and Creative Fun for All the Family

10:00am-12:30pm: There will be a variety of events and competitions taking place at Greasley Sports and Commity Centre, Dovecote Road, Newthorpe, NG16 3QN, promoted with the support of the Beauvale Guides and Scouts, Mr & Mrs Bettinson of Beauvale Manor Farm, the Moorgreen Residents Association, Moorgreen Colts FC and staff at the centre.

Fun Children's Sports: Obstacle, Flat and Hoop races for under-7s and under-11s (Registration for events from 10:00am). Events taking place throughout the morning. Also includes have-a-go games such as: welly wanging and horse shoe tossing.

Decorated Cake Competition: Classes for under-12s and adults. Decorate your cake with a right Royal Design! (Registration from 10:00am in the Sports Hall). Judging at approximately 11:00am.

Jubilee Fancy Dress: Classes for Best King and Queen in under-12s and adults (Registration from 10:00am in the Sports Hall). Judging at approximately 11:15am.

Penalty Shoot-Out: Throughout the morning youngsters from the Moorgreen Colts Football Club will demonstrate their spot kick skills on the Multi Use Games Area. A chance for parents to have a go as well. (Registration from 10:30am).

Pony Rides: Something a little different for the Beauvale Recreation Ground!

Sweets & Treats: Availbale from the Guides' tuck shop plus hot drinks from the Parish Hall.

Traditional Fairground Games: Huck-a-Duck and more!

Children's Magic Show: At the conclusion of the games and competitions (approximately 11:30am) local Magic Circle Member, Don Chambers, presents his magical show in the Parish Hall.

 

St Mary's Parish Church, Greasley, Open Day10:00am-16:00: St Mary's Parish Church, Greasley, is holding an open day including displays, refreshments and trips up the tower for a panoramic view across the green fields of Greasley.

 Tower trips: £4 per adult, £2 per child.

Greasley Parish Tour

12 noon - 6:00pm: You will be able to tour the parish of Greasley aboard an iconic London red bus.

Suggested route: Sports and Community Centre - Moorgeen Centre - Horse & Groom - Watnall Royal Oak - Greasley Parish Church - Moorgreen Corner - Grealsey Miners Welfare - Hill Top - Giltbrook - Smithurst Road - Newthorpe Common - Hill Top - Sports Centre.

Running from 12noon until 6:00pm.

Greasley Parish Party

12noon-11:00pm: There will be a hog roast, bouncy castle, pony rides, games, music, football competitions, fireworks and beacon lighting at the Parish Party at the Horse & Groom, Moorgreen, Newthorpe, NG16 2FE.

From 5:00pm onwards there will be music and singing on stage.

At 9:55pm, 'The Nation's Favourites', Hayley Dobson will lead the audience in patriotic songs, culminating with The National Anthem.

'Fantastic Fireworks', there will be a spectacular aerial display sponsored by Greene King.

Then the countdown to lighting the Jubilee Beacon will begin. Greasley forms part of the national chain of beacons linked to Buckingham Palace as the nation celebrates.

Frankie Martin Charity Concert

3:00pm-5:00pm: The Gatehouse Tea Room will host the popular local crooner for a charity concert.

Jubilee Peal of Bells

6:00-7:00pm: St Mary's Parish Church will have a special Jubilee peal of bells to commemorate the occasion.
