Anna Soubry supports S.O.F.A (Save Our Foresters Arms)

The application has been made to Broxtowe Borough Council and Anna will present the petition to the leader of the Council, Milan Radulovic. “I have enjoyed a drink on a number of occasions in the Foresters and it is a great community facility. Many people come to enjoy a chat with friends and neighbours as well as a drink. I am told it makes good money and it would be a real shame if it were demolished.

Anna Soubry puts Toton residents concerns to Minister after restocking disappointment.

Last year thousands of trees were destroyed on land near Toton Sidings. The Forestry Commission issued a re stocking notice ordering the owner to replant the self set silver birches which the owner appealed. The Minister, Jim Paice said the owner would only have to replant if the trees did not grow back naturally within the next four years. Anna wrote

Attenborough Flood defences on time and under budget!

"Work on both sides of the village has progressed well despite the severe winter weather. The dry weather in the Spring means the work is ahead of schedule and so far is under budget. In September work will start on the final part of the flood defences along the new route we fought so hard for." Anna met with the Environment Agency on Monday and discussed the Attenborough scheme and a number of other matters.

Save our Green Belt

Broxtowe Borough Council has agreed a target of  5,765 houses many of which will have to built on the constituencys green belt. The numbers were voted through by the controlling Labour and Lib Dem group and opposed by Conservative Councillors.

"Broxtowe is the most densely populated Borough in the county so we have little enough green belt land" said Anna "I dont have any problem with building new homes on brown field sites but not on our precious green belt and Broxtowe Borough Council should accordingly reduce the numbers."

MUGA petition presented to Broxtowe leader

Greasley's Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) is a popular facility in Greasley but not with everyone who lives next to it. Some residents complained about the noise and as a result Broxtowe Borough Council slapped on a noise abatement order. Greasley Parish Council fear the restrictive order will mean the MUGA must close and hundreds of users are furious. " I have had a very positive meeting with Cllr. Radulovic who has made it clear he does not want the MUGA to close. We agree that together we can sort out the problem.

Anna Soubry calls for full review of Contempt of Court Act

Earlier this year Anna Soubry introduced a Private Members Bill to give arrested people anonymity until or unless they were charged. In the recent debates on phone hacking and the behaviour of the police and media  Anna has repeatedly spoken out against the reporting of an arrested persons name.
