Beeston based Boots has announced a deal with Walgreens, America's biggest drug store business. The billion pound deal has the long term aim of a full merger between Boots Alliance and Walgreens in three years time. Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry has given a cautious welcome to the deal "however, my main concern is that Boots guarantees the future of the Beeston site and all jobs"

Anna has written to Boots Alliance ask what guarantees are in place following today's announcement, in both the short and long term.

Broxtowe celebrates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Events have been held throughout the Broxtowe constituency to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The celebrations began on Saturday with the Hemlock Happening culminating last night with beacons at Bramcote, Greasley, Awsworth,Stapleford and Kimberley. Broxtowe MP helped open the Hemlock Happening and last night joined hundreds at the beacon lighting in Greasley.   

Street parties were the theme of the yesterday's celebrations.
