Anna Soubry MP Congratulates Haveli Restaurant in Chilwell for winning the East Midlands nomination for the 2012 Tiffin Cup

Haveli Restaurant in Chilwell has won the East Midlands section of the prestigious Tiffin Cup 2012. The Tiffin Cup, a competition organised by the Tiffin Club to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country, calls for Members of Parliament to nominate the best restaurants in their constituencies. Haveli, nominated by Anna Soubry MP, will now go head-to-head with 12 other restaurants in the National Final at the House of Commons in London.

This year, 89 restaurants were nominated from across the country. Haveli Restaurant, having won the Regional Final, will have the chance to represent the East Midlands impress the panel of eight celebrity judges, including peoples-favourite Ainsley Harriott, with their signature dish.

The Chairman of the Tiffin Cup, the Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, visited the restaurant with Anna Soubry MP to announce the good news on Wednesday 30th May.

Before eating on Wednesday, Keith Vaz MP Chair of the Tiffin Club said:

“We are delighted with the high standards shown at the Haveli Restaurant. I am excited to try out the food myself when I visit on Wednesday. This competition is the Champions League of curry cooking. The Haveli will be the standard bearer for culinary excellence in the East Midlands when it cooks for the judges at the Grand Final. I wish it well in the final at the House of Commons.”

Anna Soubry MP said:

“I am delighted that The Haveli Restaurant has made it into the final of the Tiffin Cup 2012. This is such a prestigious award and I will certainly be there on the 27th June to cheer on Haveli and I am sure everyone in Broxtowe will be rooting for our restaurant to be crowned the 2012 champion.”
