Anna Soubry and local Councillors Marilyn Hegyi, Craig Cox and Tony Ford are holding a public meeting in Toton as part of the campaign to protect the areas green belt.
Fields off Stapleford Lane and opposite Bardills have been identified by Broxtowe Borough Council as suitable for development even though are in the green belt. The plans would see hundreds of houses built on the fields.
Anna Soubry said “We are the most densely populated Borough and our green belt is especially important providing open green spaces, preventing urban sprawl and keeping the identity of communities like Toton and Stapleford. Broxtowe Borough Council has enough brown field land for 2,000 homes. They are now handing over our green belt to developers when they don’t have to.”
Anna has condemned the Labour /Lib Dem coalition who control Broxtowe, for accepting a housing target from the last Government and for consulting with residents after setting a figure.
