Stapleford Post Office

Anna Soubry MP has praised campaigners in Stapleford after Bargain Booze pulled out of plans to move the towns Post Office in to its shop in the town. Borough Councillor Adam Stockwell launched a petition to stop the move and hundreds of residents signed it.

Anna wrote to the Post Office and held a meeting with top executives and local Councillors.

“We made it very clear that Stapleford’s residents did not want their Post office in Bargain Booze. An off licence specialising in selling discount alcohol was not the best place to re site the Post Office” said Anna.

“I am told Bargain Booze has pulled out because of the weight of public opinion and I thank them for listening to people in Stapleford” Anna added.

Adam’s campaign was supported by fellow Councillors John Longdon and Richard MacRae. A street stall in Stapleford attracted hundreds of shoppers eager to sign the petition. Anna also urged residents to write to the Post Office to express their views during the consultation period which ended last week.

Traders and shoppers in Stapleford are now urged to come forward if they want to run Stapleford’s Post Office and are urged to contact Anna or register their interest on
