Anna Soubry has contacted Severn Trent Water after emergency sewage works on Regent Street in Beeston brought traffic to a standstill.
Severn Trent have now agreed to halt the road works until they can find a better way to maintian the sewers and reduce the disruption to local people and businesses.
Speaking of the decision, Anna Soubry said: “I am pleased that Severn Trent have taken the sensible and common-sense decision to halt their works.”
“Beeston’s businesses and residents have had to put up with considerable disruption caused by the tram works over the last few years and Severn Trent themselves closed Queen’s Road for sewage works earlier this month. There must be better communication and a better way to complete the works without creating so much chaos”.
