People throughout Broxtowe will be commemorating the one hundredth anniversary of the start of the First World War in the next few days. Anna Soubry MP has listed the various events throughout the constituency in her recent email newsletter devoted to the commemorations. “When we entered the First World War on August 4th 1914 there was widespread public support. However, in time, when the scale of the slaughter and terrible suffering became known we rightly took a different view. Men from all over Broxtowe lost their lives in the “War to end all Wars” and memorials throughout the constituency record their names. I am pleased so many events have been orgnaised in our churches and in communities like Stapleford and Greasley. I will be in Stapleford on Saturday and Greasley on Monday.” said Anna, who is also backing the “Lights Out” event on Monday evening between 10 and 11pm.
