High Speed 2

Anna welcomed the announcement from the Secretary of State for Transport that the HS2 East Midlands Hub will be situated at Toton Sidings, Stapleford. Anna believes this is an excellent opportunity for Toton, Stapleford and Broxtowe as a whole.  Not only will it bring better transport connections, it will also relieve pressure on the busy Midland Main Line whilst also creating local jobs, apprenticeships and business opportunities.

In May 2018 I wrote to the Transport Secretary raising further issues about HS2 in Broxtowe, you can read this letter by clicking below.

Anna has successfully campaigned for HS2 to abandon plans for a 60-foot viaduct near Trowell village, and is continuing to push for a tunnel to deliver the route through Broxtowe, including the East Midlands Hub at Toton Sidings. HS2 are now currently offering a cutting alongside the M1, which would mean the demolition of 20 more homes. A tunnel would help to prevent the years of serious road disruption and reduce the environmental damage that the M1 cutting would likely inflict in parts of the constituency. Anna has attended various meetings in Trowell, discussing the proposals with both HS2 Officials and local residents. HS2 have launched a consultation on the new route, which closes on the 6th September. To find out more about how you can have your say, please click here.

After winning her campaign for fair HS2 Compensation for Trowell residents, Anna has written to the residents of Trowell detailing the proposed changes to the HS2 route through the constituency. HS2 have now abandoned their plans for a 60-foot viaduct in Trowell, something that Anna has been campaigning against on behalf of the local community. Anna will be meeting with the Minister for HS2 to discuss the campaign and she will represent all views from constituents to the Minister. If you are a resident who is likely to be affected by HS2, please do not hesitate to contact our office for further information and advice. Please find Anna’s letter to local residents below.
