Chancellor, George Osborne joined Anna Soubry in Beeston to meet local businesswomen and then host an event for women at the Pearson Centre. George also labelled the City Councils management of the tram works "incompetent".
Anna Soubry MP has welcomed new figures showing 740 new apprenticeships were started by people in Broxtowe last year. In total 3,130 new apprenticeships have been started in Broxtowe since 2010
The latest delay comes after nineteen months of closure and numerous missed deadlines to get the road back open to traffic. Anna said “Broken promises have plagued this project from the outset. Traders, residents and I were promised that the road would be open this weekend, traders have organised a reopening party alongside the Oxjam Beeston Takeover Music Festival. This will go ahead as planned and all are determined to make sure this weekend is a success.”
Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin MP, has called on Nottingham City Council to consider compensating residents in Beeston and Chilwell who have been living through major disruption during construction of the new Tram line.
