I was appalled to hear that families of Round Hill Primary School have received the so-called “Punish a Muslim” letters. I have written to the school’s headmaster to offer my support and I also raised this matter in the House of Commons. Broxtowe has long been a diverse and tolerant community. We must make it clear that the senders of these letters do not represent the vast majority of Broxtowe residents, nor do they adhere to British values. In both my capacity as Chair of the APPG for British Muslims and in my role as Broxtowe’s Member of Parliament, I will continue to work with all relevant authorities to combat Islamophobia in all its forms.
