Anna Soubry MP has today welcomed Parliament’s vote in favour of the High Speed Rail (Preparation) Bill, which will allow the Government to continue funding HS2, ahead of the final vote on the project in Spring 2014.
Speaking of the vote, Anna said:
HS2 is a great opportunity for Nottinghamshire as the East Midlands Hub Station at Toton will provide an estimated £2.2 Billion to Nottingham and Derby’s local economy; increase capacity on our overburdened rail lines and slash travel times to London, Birmingham and Leeds.
I am therefore pleased that Parliament voted, by some majority, to continue supporting this project. I look forward to HS2 being further debated in Parliament next Spring.
