Anna Soubry MP has welcomed today’s news that plans to build hundreds of houses on Field Farm will be subject to a public Inquiry.
Speaking of today’s news, Anna said: “This is great news for all of us who have been campaigning to save Field Farm, which is a Green Belt site. I asked Eric Pickles to “call in” Broxtowe’s decision and I am very pleased that he has”
Broxtowe Borough Council’s Labour/Lib Dem coalition backed the plans despite local opposition. The Council had to send their decision to the Secretary of State who normally would “nod” the decision through.
“Eric has taken this unusual step because Broxtowe’s plans have national implications notably in relation to Green Belt land. Today’s decision doesn’t mean we have saved Field Farm but it does mean the decision will be properly scrutinised and we will be able to make the argument that it should not be developed,” Anna said.
