Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, Anna Soubry, has welcomed the news that construction on the A453 widening (M1 Junction 24 to A52 Nottingham) will start in January 2013.
Anna said, “This is great news for greater Nottingham, which includes parts of Broxtowe. After years of inactivity, I am delighted the Government has brought forward the project. The A453 will at last be a modern and efficient road bringing huge benefit to greater Nottingham. There will be particular benefit to the south of my constituency including the Boots site based at Beeston.”
Anna worked with Nottinghamshire County Council, fellow MPs and local businesses to campaign for the improvement.
Work on laying out the road began this summer and the project is expected to be completed by summer 2012.
An exhibition detailing the programme of works for the coming weeks will be held on Friday 11th January at Clifton Leisure Centre on Southchurch Drive from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and on 12th January from 10:00am to 4:00pm, before moving to the Kegworth Whitehouse Hotel on 13th January from 10:00am to 4:30pm.
