Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, has written to the Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin MP, regarding the proposed HS2 development and its effect on Broxtowe residents.
Speaking on the plan, which includes a new East Midlands Hub to be based at Toton Sidings, and will bisect part Nuthall, Anna said:
“The potential is hugely exciting, bringing real opportunity for growth to Broxtowe, Nottingham and indeed Derby; and will dramatically improve our infrastructure. However, it is a long way off and is obviously controversial with huge implications for the Green Belt land at Toton, and with considerable disadvantages for those whose homes are on or near the planned route.”
Later this week Anna is meeting with the Railways Minister Simon Burns MP to discuss the project.
