Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, has today spoken out in support of the Post Office’s bid to retain DVLA front desk services, following a campaign petition signed by 86 Broxtowe Residents.
The bid, which would allow the Post Office to continue to provide existing DVLA services, would also mean the Government could choose to award other contracts to the Post Office without having to go through a costly competitive tender process.
“It is important that the Government supports local services such as the Post Office, which is why I have today written to Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening MP, and the Minister for Postal Services, Norman Lamb MP, asking them to support the Post Office’s bid for these Government services.
It is my view that the Post Office provides an important, local service, which is easily accessible to the majority of my constituents. I hope that the government will listen to me and my Constituents and help to give high streets, to which Post Offices are integral in increasing footfall, a real boost”.
