Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, has this week spoken out in favour of the upgrade and electrification of the Midland Mainline from London to the Midlands.
Speaking on Monday in the parliamentary debate hosted by Conservative MP for Loughborough, Nicky Morgan MP, Anna welcomed the Cross-party support for the project, stating:
“There is an excellent economic case for electrification and the improvement of the line not just for the good people of greater Nottingham but for those throughout the whole of the East Midlands right up to South Yorkshire”.
Speaking after the debate, Anna said:
“I think it is very important we keep up the good work on this campaign. I have sent a copy of the very good economic report prepared by Nottinghamshire County Council to the Minister of State, Theresa Villiers MP and the Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening MP. It is my hope that upgrades to the Midland Mainline will included in this summers announcements of future spending on Transport projects.”
