Shoppers in Beeston were able to pick up a free health check in addition to their groceries on Saturday 2nd March when national diabetes charity Silver Star visited.
Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, said, ”Silver Star is an outstanding charity that provides diagnosis at a local level and I therefore did not hesitate in assisting the charity to arrange one of their mobile testing units to come to Beeston. The units offer BMI and blood sugar checks and are vital in helping to diagnose diabetes.”
Keith Vaz, Member of Parliament for Leicester East, is founder patron of the charity and was also on hand in the car park of Sainsbury’s, Beeston, to encourage passers-by to have a check-up.
Anna added, “I very much hope to welcome Silver Star back to Broxtowe in the future; in just one day the unit tested 83 people”.
