Broxtowe’s Member of Parliament, Anna Soubry, has today met with the Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, to discuss a number of local issues including the closure of High Road and Chilwell Road, Beeston. Anna raised the concerns of local residents and traders. The Secretary of State listened to those concerns and expressed his hope that disruption could be kept to a minimum, but as it is a City Council matter there was little he could do but express understanding of the concerns.
The Broxtowe MP also raised the matter of the imminent six-week closure of Nottingham station for improvement work in summer at the same time as works on the widening of the A453 are underway. Anna said, “Patrick assured me he is doing all he can to ensure rail passengers at East Midlands Parkway have as quick and as easy access to Nottingham as possible.”
