Anna Soubry MP has urged Towns in Broxtowe to step up and become a “Portas Pilot”.
“Kimberley, Stapleford and Beeston are great places, but they have seen better days. They need rejuvenating.” said Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry, who has offered to help the three towns apply to a million pound Government fund.
Mary Portas wrote a report looking at how failing high streets can transform themselves by bringing together shops, businesses and local councils with a fresh vision for their future.
Anna added, “I have written to Stapleford and Kimberley Town Council and the Beeston BID, telling them about the Government’s fund for twelve towns to become pilots for the Mary Portas approach and urging them to apply. Each town needs to bring together local shops and businesses, who need to drive the application and show they have the will and ideas to make their towns better places to shop and work.”
Towns have until March 30th 2012 to apply to be a pilot.
