Anna Soubry MP has today made a call for local businesses to apply for the position of subpostmaster, in order to restore a Post Office counter service to Nuthall.
Following the sad death of postmaster Rob Jones on 31st January 2011, Nuthall Temple Post office has been closed for some 16 months, much to the despair of local residents, who currently have to travel to Kimberley, Watnall and Broxtowe to obtain local Postal services.
Today Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, has renewed the calls for businesses to take over the Post Office local branch, alongside existing retail services.
“I have written to the Post Office on a number of occasions, and they have repeatedly assured me that they are keen to find an alternative venue for a Post Office in the Nuthall Temple area.
It is therefore important that any businesses in the area who want to take on this important community service make an application. I fear that if this is not done, then the people of Nuthall may permanently lose Post Office Counter services.”
Any retailers interested in making an application should contact the Post Office Agency Network on0845 601 6260
