Anna Soubry MP has backed Leaders of the Conservative and Lib Dem Groups on Broxtowe Borough Council in calling for Kimberley Borough Councillor Richard Robinson to resign from the Council’s Cabinet.
Calls for Councillor Robinson to resign follow an interview he gave to BBC Radio Nottingham in which he admitted asking people to post pro-tram comments using aliases on web sites and social media. You can listen to the interview here.
Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry said, “I fully support the comments of Conservative Leader Cllr Richard Jackson. Cllr Robinson holds a position of responsibility on Broxtowe Borough Council and by condoning fraudulent posts on social media in support of a controversial council vote he is not fit to hold his office and should resign.”
“There have been many allegations recently that aliases have been used on local websites such as Bramcote Today, the Nottingham Post and social media groups. I very hope that Labour, who have so far saif nothing about the matter, will condemn this sort of underhand activity. I now hope that Richard Robinson, who also works for Labour MP Gavin Shuker, will do the right thing and resign from the Cabinet.”
