Anna Soubry launches petition to defend Toton’s Green Belt

More than 200 people attended a public meeting in Toton to protest against plans to build 775 houses on Green Belt land in the area.

Local MP Anna Soubry had called the meeting along with local Conservative Councillors.

“Toton does not want to lose its Green Belt and the Borough does not need to build on our Green Belt to meet our housing needs” said Anna “people in Toton are against the plans and are determined to see off the development”.

Peverill Homes has made the application to Broxtowe Borough Council who are expected to consider it early next year.

“we are urging people to write to the Borough Council making their objections clear given the affect 775 houses will have on our already overly congested roads and why we do not want to lose our Green Belt. I have also launched a petition and we started collecting signatures today ” said Anna adding  “my web site has specific advice on what the committees criteria are and how people can join the campaign. Next weekend we will start knocking on every door in Toton to get people to sign the petition – so let me know if you can help”.
