Anna Soubry backs Toton residents Green Belt fight

Anna Soubry attended last nights consultation at Coronation Hall in Toton and pledged her support to stop development on fields off Stapleford Lane.

Broxtowe Borough Council told residents of their plans to build up to 4,000 houses on the green belt  with hundreds of houses planned opposite Bardills.

“The people at the meeting made it clear they value their green belt and do not want it to be built on” said Anna. ” the Borough Council is going about this in completely wrong way. People are led to believe this is a done deal and the only question is where. Instead Broxtowe should not accept any target and should  consult and work with communities – it’s as if Broxtowe’s ruling group are determined to alienate people. Toton is already suffering from inadequate roads that are choked with traffic. Toton has a number of schools which are already over subscribed and too many of the areas developments have been poorly planned without adequate open spaces and places for children to play.”

There is a public meeting on Saturday September 24 between 2 and 4 pm at the Greenwood Centre.

The consultation ends on October 3rd.
