Alderman Pounder Infants gets £50,000 for service families

Alderman Pounder Infants and Nursery in Chilwell have received £50,000 from the Ministry of Defence to provide extra facilities for service family children.

Minister, Andrew Robathan MP and local MP Anna Soubry  visited the school today (Thursday March 15) to meet teachers , parents and school Governors. The School has acquired a nearby bungalow which they plan to convert into a “Pod” providing extra facilities for all pupils including video conferencing so soldiers serving abroad can see and talk to their children.

Extra facilities are also planned for infants with special needs and the plan is to make sure the local community can use the meeting rooms.

“Alderman Pound has set itself a huge target of raising £50,000 to get the bungalow fully converted and open next September. They are looking for substantial donations from a variety of sources “ said Anna “I have already contacted Notts. County Council to see if they have any available funds though they did give Alderman Pounder the bungalow which they had bought some time ago.”

Parents and staff have already pledged to help create a garden as well as raising funds.
