Events have been held throughout the Broxtowe constituency to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The celebrations began on Saturday with the Hemlock Happening culminating last night with beacons at Bramcote, Greasley, Awsworth,Stapleford and Kimberley. Broxtowe MP helped open the Hemlock Happening and last night joined hundreds at the beacon lighting in Greasley.

Dozens of residents gathered at Awsworth Parish Hall on Friday to listen to Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, Parish Councillors and seasoned campaigners discuss UK Coal’s proposal for an open cast mine on a 325 acre site between Cossall and Trowell. The meeting came the day after Anna discussed the proposal in Parliament.

Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry says the campaign to defend Field Farm, Stapleford from development is not over despite Broxtowe Borough Council's decision to put it forward as a prime site for development. Not one of Stapleford's Councillors spoke out against development on the Green Belt site and all voted for earmarking it for 450 houses.
